2
seminars in one congress / two continents in one city :
The
whole congress was organized around 2 simultaneous seminars
allowing specialized debates and contributions; while
the plenary sessions and the various social occasions
offered a unique occasion for the participants and speakers
to break the 'speciality borders' by meeting Transatlantic
experts or operators coming from totally different background
and sectors.
Main
outlines :
Each
seminar was composed of 4 panels plus conclusions and
proposals, while each panel was composed of 3 to 6 speakers
with a European/American balance accounted on a seminar
as a whole (not necessarily panel by panel).
The provisional program indicated a few weeks before the
congress was more precisely the expectations of the organizers
and the deliverables that participants might have expected
and definitely helped speakers to identify precisely their
specific input.
Each
theme gave matter to a preparatory Internet debate, launched
at the beginning of 2002, and moderated by Politalks (which
successfully ensured the moderation of the Sept 11th -
Transatlantic Response list, that was put up between September
and December 2001, and which brought together some 500
participants from both continents).
At
the end of the event, each theme gave matter to a presentation
structured around three parts :
- Part 1 : common envisageable orientations
- Part 2 : common concrete actions to implement
- Part 3 : themes of divergence and means of follow-up.
