1. Tiesweb becomes the first Transatlantic instrument funded 100% by citizens!
Tiesweb has received enough donation promises to match the 25.000 Euros it required to operate for the next 12 months.
Therefore Tiesweb wants to thank all those private donors who have made it possible for this unique Transatlantic citizens bridge to keep on operating and contribute to the shaping up of tomorrow's EU/USA relationship.
Beyond the already planned 3rd Tiesweb Miami Transatlantic Week (3rd-8th April 2006), and the 3rd series of conferences of the Transatlantic Citizens Marathon (24th-31st October 2005), Tiesweb will develop several new projects in partnership with various organizations in order to generate an innovative and constructive mindset regarding the future of the Transatlantic relationship. 3. Europe 2020 meets Forum 2020 in The Hague on May 10th

In this meeting Max Kohnstamm, one of the founding fathers of the EU, will make a speech on the future of Europe from his perspective. Then Ewald Engelen, political philosopher and advisor to the Dutch government and Prime Minister, currently making a report on the relevance of the national power on European and trans-border legislation. It is this framework that Franck Biancheri will then present Europe2020 and Newropeans and elaborate on the NO Vote alternatives.

“The European Union? A superpower? You must be joking!” Bob, a well informed American friend of mine is showing signs exasperation, this time at a speech made by the UK’s Prime Minister, Tony Blair, that Europe should become a “superpower but not a superstate”. Just look at the last EU summit! It was a mess.”
He has a point. The last meeting of European leaders was not a great media success. Indeed, neither have been any of their other recent meetings.
