2020: Building New Partners or Building New Blocs?

2020 and Prometheus-Europe.
In partnership with TIES.
This conference seeks to develop an understanding about the
future direction of transatlantic relations in an effort to
anticipate problems and formulate solutions.
Based on a transatlantic partnership between the EU Center of
Georgia and Europe 2020, speakers and participants will gather
in Atlanta from both sides of the Atlantic to achieve a three-part
objective :
- to initiate a common reflexion on the future of Transatlantic
relations based on the Anticipation
Method©
- to enable the setting up of a common reflexion framework between
Europe and North America
- to increase collaboration between civil societies on both
sides of the Antlantic.
The practical objective of the conference is to prepare a set
of conclusions to be forwarded to policy-makers on both sides
of the Atlantic outlining the path to healthy cooperation in
future transatlantic relations.
The conference plans to tackle the following questions :
1- "Will a Common Transatlantic Economic and Civic Area Develop?"
2- "From Globalization to Global Organization: Is there an EU-US
Convergence?"
3- "World Security in 2020: Will NATO Have a Role?"
4- "Cultural Values in America and Europe: Are the Long-term
Trends Different?" |
